'83 Cutlass Cruiser Build Thread

Been debating adding the vinyl woodgrain trim around the car once it's painted. Should I do it?

Got the driver side jamb scuffed up and seam sealed.
Looks nicer than how it rolled off the line, but not by too much!
I'll get the passenger side and the cowl taken care of tomorrow...

Looking good Blake, I did the same thing. Time consuming to say the least, but necessary!

Decided to throw my bucket seats in as-is...
. Hey Blake, I just started reading through this thread. I know it's been a while, but I'm happy to see that you put those seats to good use!

Thanks, Troy!
I'm not too proud of my spray foam jerry-rig, but it sure beats tripping over them in the garage!

Little update...
Thursday I got the passenger side jambs scuffed and seam sealed.
Didn't bother taking a picture since it looks just like the driver side, just reversed...
Got the upper cowl scuffed and seam sealed Saturday, then spent some time cleaning up the bolts for the door hinges...
Time to order up some more sealer so I can get moving on the rear doors and get them back on the car.

Got the rear doors all cleaned up to my liking.
There was a tiny bit of rust starting along the bottom edge of each door underneath where the old seam sealer was.
I was able to slowly grind it out using my cutoff wheel at really low speed. Good enough.
I'll get some sealer on them on tuesday...

Nice progress!

Looking good Blake! I was fortunate enough to have a blast cabinet on base big enough to fit my doors in, getting out any remaining rust before replacing the lower skins.

I have a request, could you snap a few pictures of you fender liners/inner wheel wells? I am modifying Pontiac wheel wells to fit since I don't have any olds ones. I have Chevy, Buick, and Pontiac, I like the Pontiacs the best. I am just curious as to what they look like.

Thanks guys!
Been really tempted lately to pick up a medium sized blast cabinet... sure saves a lot of work!
I'm still trying to get my buddy to go in halvesies with me to ease the sticker shock of a nice one. 😱
Guess I'll have to drag the old pot blaster out this weekend so I can do my hinges...

Today I got the rear doors primed.
I'll scuff them down and seam seal them Thursday.
Then I can flip them over, block them out and throw them back on the car...

Got the jambs on the rear doors scuffed and seam sealed today.
I'm dreading having to sandblast my hinges, but it's going to be nice Saturday so I might as well get it over with...
I can do my hood hinges and the exhaust manifold I picked up for the hearse while I'm at it.
I might tickle the door jamb area of the fenders too, since sanding them may be kind of awkward. We'll see how motivated I am...
