'83 Cutlass Cruiser Build Thread

Been debating adding the vinyl woodgrain trim around the car once it's painted. Should I do it?

Decided to keep sanding on the roof while I was at it.
Got everything knocked down except for the ribs, I'll snap a picture when it's "finished" finished...
All in all, I'm happy with the results. At least until I pull it out into the sunlite for the first time and see all the spots I missed! lol
It's not perfect, but it's close enough for me... especially considering how bad it was when I started.

I'll get the roof wrapped up this weekend and do the final block on the rear doors so I can get them back on the car.
Once the rears are done I can repeat the process with the front two.

Blake,
I'm sure it probably looks good right now as it sits. Don't be too hard on yourself. I think the roofs on these cars weren't that straight to begin with...especially around the ribs.
I missed a few small areas myself. Of course, it's more noticeable with paint on it.
Your car is going to look great...I can't wait to see the final results. I'll be tuned in.

Blocked out the rear doors again today.
I can still see where I welded the holes up for the body side moldings, but otherwise they look great.
I'm just going to throw them back on the car and I can touch up the low spots later.
Or I could just leave it. Between the woodgrain and the replacement body side moldings I doubt it will even be noticible...
I'll get them back on the car and get started on the fronts.

Yeah, I forgot that you were considering the woodgrain and moldings. That would hide a lot of ills...not that I'm encouraging you to cut corners, but it's something to take into consideration.
I think whatever you do will look great.

Oh, I cut them where I can! lol
Don't worry, I'll end up taking care of them.
Honestly, I can only feel 2 or 3 of them, but I can faintly see 7 out of 8.
I think it will be easier for me to see/work with them once the doors are back on.

Got the rear doors back on the car yesterday and lined up where I'm happy with them.
I assume I'll have to do a little readjusting once I hang the fronts back on, but they should be pretty close.
Threw the front doors back on the stands and that's where my motivation dried up for the day.
Hopefully I can finish stripping the jambs tomorrow so that I can get some sealer on them this weekend.

Finished stripping the front doors and got some sealer on them today.
I'll get them scuffed and seam sealed on Tuesday.
Then I can flip them over and start blocking them out.
