'83 Cutlass Cruiser Build Thread

Been debating adding the vinyl woodgrain trim around the car once it's painted. Should I do it?

You know, I'm still not 100% sure what I'll use... I've never tried dying/spraying them before.
When I did my 442, I just cleaned and reinstalled them because I was afraid that whatever topcoat I put on would peel...
Though my 442's wheel wells weren't that bad, but the wagons are pretty dull/faded from the Texas heat.
I have a can of Rustoleum for plastic that I was going to try on one of the smaller pieces and see how I like it.
If it looks good, that's the route I'll go. If it looks shitty, I'll give the Eastwood stuff a try.
And if that doesn't look good then **** it, I'll just put them back in as is... at least they're clean!

Made some decent progress the past couple weeks...
The day after I last posted I got called back to work after getting laid off 3 months ago. Now I can buy the last of the stuff I'll need!
So my summer vacation got cut short...lol at least I got a good extended spring break!
This week I tackled the fenders. I had a few dust nibs and a couple runs to take care of, but they sanded out nicely.
Tuesday I wet-sanded, Thursday I buffed them out and Friday I bolted them to the car.
Today I got started on the hood... knocked down all the dust nibs and got about 2/3's of it wet sanded before I ran out of paper...
I'll finish up the sanding, hit it with the buffer and get it on the car this week. :wax:

So car craft (or whatever its called now) in a few weeks? 🙂

Wow, the "show formerly known as Car Craft" as I like to call it is only 2 weeks away already!
I'll be there... The wagon won't be ready in time though... I don't even think I'll be able to get the 442 ready to be honest!
Might have to just be a spectator this year... I guess I could take the Roadbarge lol. sh*t, I could probably take the GN...
Are you going to drive up for the show? Be a good chance to grab that hood if you felt so inclined...

It'd be fun to have the wagon done and at the show, but all I really care about is getting it back home before it gets cold out.
I refuse to rush things to meet a meaningless deadline. That's when things get compromised too easily...
I'm bad enough as it is, plus that's just not how I work... lol

I finished wet-sanding the hood yesterday and tomorrow I'll hit it with the buffer.
My hood hinges are already blasted and primed, they just need to be painted.
I'll have to clean up my bolts and paint those as well... Then I can throw it on the car!

Got the hood buffed out, hinges and hardware painted, and threw it on the car.
I'm a happy camper! :wax:
Still need to do more homework about the woodgrain... Plenty to work on while I do.
Next up is fixing the chip I put in the header panel...
