84 Grand National lq4 turbo swap

Just installed some big meats in the GN 275 45 16 in the 8 inch GTA rims. Had to cut a 6mm slip on spacer to get them off of my frame rails. Fit good though and looks the part.

Well Im tearing this thing down once again 😭. Can't win lol. I finally figured out why I kept messing up pistons. The map sensor I'm running isn't supported by Holley's pretunes. When I select custom 3 bar map sensor my timing maps go crazy advance. So 36 degrees in boost is really bad 😞.

And the damage, weird as it broke 3 ring lands but the compression was 160psi plus on 7 out of 8 and the really bad one was still 100psi. All the ring lands broke in the drivers side.

And this is the worst

Luckey all the metal was still in the ring lands when I took it out so the cylinders are still mint. Time for some forged pistons ...

I'm waiting on parts so I got around to installing the double din radio in the GN. Bought the bezel off of eBay and it needed some modifications to make it work but looks good.

What all mods were needed to fit the radio? I've been watching the Chevy version of those face plates but don't like the seller's pics in his listings as they kinda look like a hack job to the dash.

Minor bending of the lower metal support underneath the radio and the radio fits really tight. Sorry I don't have any pictures.

Be advised, they are 2618 aluminum and they need additional piston to wall clearance.

Drop off the block and the pistons to get the block honed accordingly.

What MAP sensor are you using?

Thanks for the heads up, I wasnt even thinking about the piston to wall clearance. Well that's going to suck as I wasn't planning on messing with the block or tearing it down any further as I have a 6.0 to build. I should have just bought stock pistons for it. sh*t, Ahhh the rabbit hole. I have an efi source 3 bar truck style map

Do you know how to adjust the fuel and spark tables when you change a MAP sensor? Happel posted a very good video about how to do it easily.

FWIW, I made a mistake when I went from a 2.5 bar to 4 bar and lifted the heads 🙁 I was cursing a fair amount lol.

I think I've figured it out but more info the better. Would you happen to have a link to this video I would love to learn more about how to scale the spark and fuel maps after a map swap.
