BUILD THREAD 86 GP 2+2~Blown 6.0

Do you have any experience with trail braking?

And have you read this?

No

And no

I should add that to my reading list

Still looked like fun Jake. You have considering pulling off the skinnies to give a try.

I know there is alot of drifting groups and I should be able to get a lot of drifting in, but damn, you could drift like you designed the car for it . The power comes in so damn quick and it seemed to be on your right foot instantly.

Rifling through some of the photos from the event and found one of me autocrossing.

Also Wednesday night next week I'm hitting the dragstrip to shoot for a 10.

To be fair, my home drag strip has heavily embraced drifting and they have learn to drift sessions. There's really not any barriers that risk bending sheet metal like most tracks so I wouldn't be opposed. Maybe a next spring/summer activities.

I agree, I've inadvertently built a decent drifting drivetrain. I just don't know if I want to stomach the rate id eat rear tires....

More things to put on the to watch list. Thanks!

There's waaaaaayyyy more to drifting than cracking the gas and sending the car sideways. A properly prepared drift car doesn't really do other stuff all that well. They're unique and special snowflakes, but within their league they're not to be sneered at.

Honestly, I do understand that a true drift car is much different than Jake's. But there is a happy medium between a car that can drift and get down a drag strip. Watching his video, he can easily break the tires free at will, even at 'low' , sub 4500 rpm. And unlike a turbo car, the power follows his right foot - no lag. Where as a turbo car doesn't care if the you're at 100% throttle or 50% - once the boost starts coming it take darn near 0% throttle to shut it down. Damn blower cars anyway 😉 (haha)

I mentioned next Wednesday the track 90 miles away has 'street night' so I am going to make it out there and probably have a poor time launching or getting a 60ft worth a crap because they add the disclaimer that the track is prepped for street tires, but I need data, I am annoyingly busy in August, and really I want to see what extra RPM and timing does to trap speed. I REALLY have the goal of running a 10 at all 3 tracks at drag weekend this year.

I've got 3 goals-
1. Shift at 6750 and make sure my fueling up there is consistent, see if the car picks up trap speed at 'low' boost compared to last year when I was shifting at 6250. If it picks up MPH, bump up another 100 rpm and see when it falls off.
2. Determine my front shock settings where it's not pogo-ing
3. Determine the RPM/wheel speed where I can turn the 2 step off and ramp in full power once the clutch fully or nearly fully grabs, try to get rid of my 'bog' that the 3.73's caused where the clutch grabs and then lugs the RPM down. I want to keep the RPM above 4500 at all times

I want to get 1 and 2 done, I don't think 3 will happen on low prep.

Did a couple pulls and again, I am a pansy and have the rev limit set too low. 6500. Needs to be 6800. And my tune is still aggravatingly rich at high RPM due to bad fuel pressure from 2+ years ago and the injectors going near static.
