Well I am upgrading.

I am moving my model building workshop from my basement into one stall of the new shop and doing car stuff on the other half.

I need a cutlass and a malibu built in 1/24-25

The garage looks so big until I start pilling my stuff into it.

Moved the GP over Friday night and it dumped 4" of snow on Saturday early AM. I emptied most of the stuff out of my garden shed, still have some 3800 parts and a th400 and 2004r i need to find a spot for.

At least I should be able to get the wagon engine swapped in January.

Why only one???

I couldn't find any info if these wheels cleared LS1 brakes so I'd rather only ship one back if they hit something.

Also, I haven't decided if I am going 17x8's with 245/45/17's on all 4 corners or if I am putting 17x9's with 255 or 275's on the rear. I want to test fit these 17x8's on the rear and see if I have room for 17x9's.

I had 245's on my firebird front and 275 rears and it sucked for as many miles as I put on I couldn't rotate the tires, but 275's would look better and probably fit the car more.

I guess where this all gets confusing too is my axle and the 2 sets of wheels I want for the car.

I have the zr2 8.6 rear which has worked awesome but i make too much power for stock axles espeically with a stick and need to throw some better shafts in. It's too wide to run the wheels I want (run those c5 and 4th gen 6"+ BS now) so I have to make it stronger for my HP and narrow it to some undetermined width. The issue is the G body rear is in reality 2" narrow for A and F body backspace so I either make it to stock width and maybe run a spacer or just make it wider, like 60", and not worry about it.

I can either
A) narrow the housing I have by cutting 4" out and butt welding the tubes, switching to some 2wd rear rotors instead of the 4wd ones I have which have too much offset and will cause the caliper to hit the frame, and switch to a moser off the shelf GN 8.5 30 spline axle. This is the cheaper/easier method.

B) cut the GM ends off the housing I have and put some 9" style bearing ends with my existing blazer brakes since they moser sells a GM brake bolt housing pattern end with a 9" bearing. That requires custom axles so I might as well make it 60" wide to not have backspace issues. That being said this is more expensive since its a $140 set of ends, $100+ more expensive axles, $50 for bearings and seals, and takes more work. However, it is the safer c clip eliminator style, which I should have but it can be argued my disk brakes act as a 80% of the way to a C clip elim.

I want to run a 15x10 steel with 275/60/15 for drag use but it has 5" BS which is in reality 1" too much. The 17x9 ralley has also 5" BS which probably will work but it concerns me. I need to order one of the 15x10's and bolt it up to my existing axle to see where it needs to sit before I can decide if my axle narrows to stock G body 58" wide or goes to 60" wide.

That's nothing. When I widen my 17x9 GTA wheels to 17x12 the BS will grow from 5.5" to 8.5". Going to have to have Strange make me something special to compensate. In the meantime I'll run some thick wheel adapters

How did the custom front wheels hold up?
