It's better, but still loose and pretty worn. I have been hunting Ebay and salvage yards for a replacement, but have yet to hunt one down. Later GT fiero's and 87 GTA's shared the same wheel. Ebay gets $400+ for a recovered one and none of the upholstery shops I have called want to do a wheel.

I haven't ruled out recovering it myself but I'd rather not. I might end up since I want to match the shifter boot to the steering wheel in a color that matches the seats.

You're definitely dealing with some beef jerky there. I wonder if the center cap on a 1987 Fiero wheel would interchange...The 3 spoke frame looks the same. Hmmm

Here's one on Ebay.

Yeah the 3 spoke portion looks real close, I'm just not sure if the collar 'depth' from the column to the button is the same dimension, just wondering if it's a different offset since a fiero is so small. Worst case it might be disassemble.

Thanks for the link. I'll bug my fiero buddy for a measurement.

Not looking good on the fiero wheel unless I can swap the plastic collar/extension part and the spline part that mounts to the shaft, or if they are the same. I might get lucky there since it looks like a bolt together assembly.

The GP wheel is about 3" stickout from the column and the fiero wheel is 2". He has a different style wheel on his fiero but I can't imagine gm used different offsets.

3 months of work summarized in a 11 minute video.

For those too lazy to read and would rather listen to my soothing voice...

Diddly squat interior update #83

The windows have flopped around on this car like one of those wacky waving arm dudes at the buy here pay here lots since I got the car and I decided to tackle replacing the peg alignment parts on the windows.

Technically they are supposed to be riveted on but I got impatient and instead of borrowing dads pneumatic rivet gun I just bought some 1/4-20 pan head cap screws and bolted them on with some nylocks.

Both drivers and passengers were broken, albeit in the opposite direction. Windows seem much less floppy now.

I also took the time to attempt to fix my non roll up passenger window with the passenger switch issue and I traced it down to the drivers switch not making ground in its 'home' position. It needs another switch but today isn't the day so the wife will have to ask nicely for me to roll down the window for her for another few weeks, lol.

Another small but annoying detail I solved was getting the door pull screw covers. The covers were missing when I bought the car since the interior was gutted and sitting in the trunk. I kinda panicked because later GP's used randomly a different door panel so my options for replacements were pretty limited, or so I thought. Turns out this shares screw covers with 86-88 Monte SS's, and they happen to be repopped for like $17. Nice! Ordered a set and got them installed. They really help finish up the door panel.

Besides the switch replacement, the door projects are kinda done, which feels good. All the sweeps are replaced, everything seems in alignment, weatherstripping is all replaced. I need to order some new hinge rollers for the detent, and MAYBE putting in some concert sound II lower speaker panels in the doors, but thats low priority.

Sometimes it's the small things that make the biggest difference in how you feel about your car...

You button that thing up any nicer and you're going to have to paint it lol

Ugh don't remind me.....

Not this winter but maybe next winter. It's at the weird limbo point where it doesn't look bad enough to be ashamed of and im not afraid of parking it anywhere as is. If it gets paint then I care about it again....

But it's the worst thing in the car now sooo...
