BUILD THREAD 87 Cutlass EFI build: 9/13/23..NEW STUFF!

Looking good Scott!

Been a busy week, got both brake lines made for the rear-end, started on e brake brackets but I might change the design some, not 100% sold on the current direction of them.
Yesterday was another exciting parts arrival day. I'm now an authorized vendor for alot of aftermarket parts, and get seem to get better pricing than whats listed for most things. I'd be happy to quote some stuff if needed.
One thing to come of this is my new posi unit, 30 spline Eaton trutrac. Alot of you guys have them and the overall consensus is they're a great unit, and very well made! It showed up yesterday along with some Timken USA made bearings from Quick Performance! I hope to pull the current carrier out this weekend if time permits, and get the ring gear and new bearings pressed on next week. I'm staying with the current ratio, the ring and pinion are in good shape so no reason to change them.

I also had to battle with BMR performance on bushing info. The rear lower control arm bushing is messed up, but these are 18ish years old. They didn't want to divulge the specs at first since the universal spec chart wasn't really yielding close results, and suggested I buy new arms. No thanks. I finally got them to explain as the bushings had their name engraved and not energy suspension, prothane, etc. Turns out they're actually rack and pinion bushings for Mustangs (ewwwww). A quick search netted me some from Amazon for a fraction of the cost. Anyways, maybe I should've went UMI years ago, but I wanted something other than black or red, but I digress. Obligatory pics.....

I have enjoyed my trutrac.

I've blown up a g80 gov lock, a yukon posi and twisted a moser 30 spline axle but I haven't broke the 30 spline trutrac yet!

Make sure the ID and OD of the bearing yo got from Quick matches the diff and the rear housing. There's 2 ID dims of 8.5 rear carrier bearings and if you press them on and they are the wrong diameter you have a problem

Yeah I got the recommended ones for 99 and prior 8.5 with the 2.89" OD and 1.4" ID
