Ran to the salvage yard to get some misc. Parts. Mostly I need an 84+ firewall engine harness plug since the GN harness I put in the wagon was converted to early 78-83 style and my 81 has an 86 salon harness so I have to un-convert the harness back to 84-87.

Found an 86 salon that donated a few other things.

Also grabbed a nice 3rd brake light and nicer fancy some light and a proper floor shift selector.

And hit up the exhaust shop for 3" stainless downpipe material. Everything here minus 2 couplers are for the t4 conversion. Stainless pipe is $$$. $350 for 4 bends and 3 couplers.

Nice score, I love walking the JY. Wish you were closer I'd love to have those buckets I got regular manual ones but power would be great. And true that remote mirror control is a PIA to get out without messing up that wire because when its busted it always droops like a lazy eye

The China Whirly Whoo showed up today.
Beijing Air Bender?
Wuhan War Whistle?
Bankok boost maker?
Turbo Buick Cult 'must run PTE or else' myth buster?

It's a 61/62 VSR T4. I bought the 44mm gate and the turbo from a local guy who moonlights as a VSR dealer so I got $50 off the turbo and $10 off the wastegate so it's like 14% off VSR pricing through their website. If you need VSR stuff I can send you his contact info.

It's a bit bigger diameter wise than the stock GN turbo but very similar in width. The stock GN turbo has a 3" inlet and this has a 4" inlet and the compressor outlet is 2.5" vs 2" on the stocker so I need to rework some stuff there. I am optimistic it will bolt on with a few bracket mods. ;)

And I need to go from GN to t4 flange so that looks like an hour on a mill :)

Build still exists, just trying to stay focused on getting the 2+2 ready for spring and I'm fixing the lathe since that's needed for the rear end and trans build for this setup.

Stumbled on news that a Buick v6 was running mid 4's in x275 racing while listening to the beards burnouts and beers podcast Chad Reynolds puts on and saw this article pop up.

Claimed to be stock heads and intake but that ain't no 86-7 gn intake spacing. Maybe 88 tta? Still doubt it. They went to split port in 88 but eh, I'm not buying it. Plus it's on a TA aluminum block so I vote alum stage series over the counter indy heads, but still pretty cool to be competitive with BBC and LS stuff.

Yeah, that isn't an honest assessment of the package. That is not a set of production line heads, over the counter race parts is more likely.

It's all Stage II stuff from what I can see.

NIce to see you plugging away. And, your right, the TB community scoffs at things that aren't "the way" like scanmasters and translaters (dated), stock fitting turbos, blow off valves, etc.

Look forward to more updates!

Whipped up a CAD model of my t4 to Buick flange.

And I am sharing it with the internet :)

I want to see all turbo buicks have cheap T4's.

I am renting some mill time tomorrow so hopefully I'll have a part this weekend.
