Yes, I would jump a wire from + on the battery to the white wire terminal on the alternator and have my meter on the ground and the out put of the alternator with the engine running to see if this gets some voltage out of the alternator. I am assuming you have already tested the voltage out of the back of the alternator with a meter on it and the other lead on a ground to see if the alternator is making voltage with the engine running. Just be careful as the engine is running and the leads of your meter can and will get caught up in the belts and such if you let them get too close. And it hurts and makes your parts(fingers and such) spring a leak if you get to close too spinning parts.
