It would be really cool if someone could measure a working one, so you could replace the faulty part; it's either an inductive coil or a capacitor. I can't tell from the pics.In case you’re wondering why we’re going on about the tach filter ,they are known to go bad and the tach will read incorrectly. They are discontinued from GM,but I bypassed mine years ago and the tach worked fine for several years after that.

THe Chevys are either 6 or 8 if I'm remembering, should dig out the parts bible to double check.
Is there a CDI box in the mix?
Yes! This is on the firewall behind the distributor or close to it. The wire looks like it was spliced into like three times. I don't understand why that would happen or how... But from what I read, they are hard to come by. What do I do about replacing it with something that will work? Thank you!this should be on the firewall. Somewhere between the distributor and the speedo cable.

Guy,
I understand the concept of bypassing something... but what I see is one wire going to a capacitor on the firewall... which is what I am assuming everyone is calling the filter. How would I go about bypassing something with one wire going to it? Just unplug it or am I missing something here in the mix. I can post pictures tomorrow if it helps what I am working with.
