I have a simliar engine set up and with hooker hears, flowmaster 40 seriers, and turn downs it sounds great, but it sets VERY loud when the edlebrocks secondaries dump. Maby try the super 44's or rout the exhuast all the way back if you dont want such and agressive sound

I have a 82 Regal with a Stg 1 455, I have a G force crossmember, headers, 2.5 "duals ( no X or H tho) with Super 44's with turn downs befor the axle.

Deep sound at idle, sounds awsome when hammered, some resonation, not as bad as 40's tho.

Drove mine on a 5 hr trip, was rather audibly quiet inside, I do have a overdrive trans tho, so rpms where low.

I'v heard that having a X or H balance the sound better and help cancelles some of the harder harsher sound waves that cause resonation.

I'd recommend the pypes system. I got the PYE-SGG12R for mine and I don't think you find a better exhaust, it's stainless, got an X Pype and fit's pretty nice actually. But unless you go with one of the systems that run down one side, you'll need to do something with your crossmember (either modify it or replace it).

i have kinda of had a change of heart on this car, My chances of really getting to drive it are looking slim due to insurence, parents, and fuel consuption. it is looking more likely that that this car will not be driven much, and I just want to be able to turn some heads with it. I have flowtech afterburner headers, and I am considering getting flowtech purple hornies,(purple hornies are 32" glasspacks that bolt directly to the mufflers) and have two stainless steel side exit exaust tips. i want loud, i want the open headers sound. this setup will run me about 200 bucks compared to a set of glasspacks installed by an exaust shop for about 400. the benefits with the purples are that i can have someone do a few welds, and i dont have to pay too much for exhaust.

I think the previous owner put the Flowtech Terminators on my El Camino way to loud for my taste.

I had a set of them purple hornies. Tell you what man, theres probably not a single cop in the whole country that'll let you get away with them. I had um on a Caprice and just setting the timing with it idleing in my driveway, got most of the local law enforcement called on me. Then my buddy that got it tried driveing it in Minneapolis and they took it from him. Way too loud.

haha, i have side mounted glass packs, they're not outrageous, but they're loud. with the cam i have in there, people say it sounds like if Harley had made cars...

i've never been pulled over, but the cops have followed me home to tell me i have to fix it. i'll be going with a full length setup soon.

just remember, noise violations ain't cheap!

ive never heard them in person before, are they really that loud? i know all the rednecks around here run straigt pipes and the seem to not attact that much attention. the purple hornies would have a staight pipe that runs out infront of the rear tires with dual tips, which ironically cost the same as the muffler.

Well, exhaust exiting under the car is amazingly loud! Even turn downs and mufflers will give you a headache. Don't forget that most of the Rednecks in pickups have lifted trucks which abates the noise somewhat compared to the resonance chamber under the car which is much closer to the ground. I'll also say that loud exhaust gets old real quick. It sounds cool when you are showing off, but wears you out when you have to actually spend time in the car. Plus, hearing loss is a permanent thing, and tinnitus is a hell you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy. Ask me how I know.

i wont be spending much time in this car likely. it wil not exit underneath the car it will exit next to it.
