Best way to lower my el camino

    Im going for the cheapest way to lower my el camino as me being a college student with not a lot of money. Just wondering what the best and cheapest way to do it. Any help is appreciated thanks

    Cheapest-Cut them.

    Best-Most likely spindles in front and lowering springs in rear.

    cutting them will give you a bumpy ride. I highly recommend saving for a bit and getting some drop spindles.

    I have read stuff about using f body springs? And that lowers it some but don't know how much work it is and what not to do that?

    I've been researching all that stuff too bc I'm trying to do the same and the spindles in the front are about $200 and the springs for the rear roughly range from $75-175, and my conclusion so far has come to spindles in the front and lowering springs in the rear which is probably the best way to go and i have looked into the s10 springs which will lower it about 2 inches. As for me i think I'm going to go with eibach lowering springs all the way around bc i don't know if i wanna drop the front yet my concern as of know is the rear

    What year springs from a s10 can you use and the front or rear? Because I don't necessarily want performance I just want low.

    Nice El Camino. This page has good info on using fbody springs and s10 springs:

    Drop spindles give you a two inch drop and can be had for around 160 dollars + shipping.

    s10's have the same front suspension as our cars so those will work.

    As far as whats best, easiest, etc., I wouldn't cut your springs. Besides that, replacing your front springs requires you remove the wheels, brakes, shocks, and popping loose at least one balljoint on each side in the front to get the springs out. This should be done with caution as the springs will shoot out and could hurt you if you are not careful. For the rear springs, you need to remove the shocks and raise the car while lowering the rearend until the spring is loose. These are not as dangerous and should fall right out.
