We stayed wet in over my way. Somehow Hillsdale was still fighting it in the afternoon but everywhere else had it all under control.

Rain in Indiana and blairsville all day. Top of Penn view had ice on the trees and ground. Roads were so so. Armagh towards chickaree got more ice then more snow on top of it. The ridge going into Johnstown was completely white from snow.

The Clyde guys have to run out to Chickaree & clean 22 cause Cambria Co. is short operators. I was out in Strongstown making mix & was hearing the ice on the trees cracking as the wind was blowing them. 422 before 553 looked to of been where the rain changed to ice.

Yesterday it snowed lightly all day. Ended up with an inch or two of slush.
Woke up this morning to 9" of what I call "cement snow".
High water content, heavy as wet cement, turns blue due to the water content when the old Willys was clearing the driveway.
Northern parts of the state got up to 18" of it, or more.
As of last night there were over 21,00 people without power due to downed wires.

You think you guys are gonna make it?
Several of the snowbirds have made sure their Wills are in order and are planning to Jim Jones their way out. The millenials have all gone to a therapy or counseling center forming large group hugs to keep warm via body heat, staying hydrated by tears.

Those of us who can survive are preparing to handle this apocalypse.

Just finished talking with an acquaintance from southern Maryland and he was saying that they got straight rain in the southern half of the state but that in the northern sections it more a case of freezing rain and ice.

As for cement snow, the road plow came back today and finished off my side of the street, so my driveway was the recipient of the mounds of crap that the next door neighbour's wife used to have piled around her car only she bailed without shoveling. (normal for her) So all that ice crap ended up on the end of the ramp and it is not just snow, it is ice the size of small boulders. Took one look at that and headed back to the shop for the shovel i use for cleanup on aisle ???. it is both short handled and has an aluminum pan on it. That did the trick. Moved the large stuff first and then dealt with the soft under-burden. i will say that the plow jockey chose about the right time to do it as the temps warmed up after lunch and all that hard crap became soft soggy crap which would have made shovelling a lot harder due to a higher water content. Also got the sidewalks and mezzanine steps down to the concrete which allowed them to melt down to bare surface so no need to throw salt. Next week is supposed to be mostly colder and clear. Works for me, I'm in rotation for most of the week; Friday is a half-day/single staff and one of the senior staff has claimed it for herself, which is cool.

Maybe too soon for some but, to one and ALL, MERRY CHRISTMAS, and JOY TO THE WORLD. Have fun blowing up your frozen turkeys and guzzling frreezing cold beer. Video of booze incited burn outs in the driveway is expected. 😆.
