big block vs small block

what are the pros and cons of big block over a small block
just trying to get idea what i would like to rebuilding my 455 olds BB or my 350 chevy SB
 
BBO:
exspensive
monster torque

SBC:
cheap
everybody has one
good power
smaller phsyical size, easier fitment

That pretty much sums it all up! Oh yea keep in mind that a BBO is only roughly 60 lbs heavier than a SBC so you dont really have to consider weight savings. OLDS 455 all the way!!!
 
a small block chevy can be alot more budget friendly and they have no problem buildin up the horsepower and torque numbers. but a BBO is just plain awsome
 
my local shop said for $1300-$1600 they will completely rebuild my 1971 455 olds but have to pay for the cam ungrade...$75

What kind of cam for an olds 455 did you find for $75?!
 
i dont want the stock cam they said its called a cam ungrade i have to pick one of there cams

Thats kinda weird. Did they give you any specs on it?
 
i will call them tomorrow and see whats up lol i would like to pick my own cam...there taking the motor apart and there going to tell me whats needed
