Differences between Bucket seat tracks and 60/40 tracks. w/pics.

I really want to avoid power seats. Function is always better. I will wind my own windows up to. There is a nice little lever thing that helps me do that, and almost never does the window stick in the up or down position, or scratch the glass 🤔

The previous owner of my wagon put buckets in place of the bench. But the hack only bolted them in on the outside edges. Call me weird but I swapped them out for a 60/40 bench (including welding in the inner floor mounts) because at the time I needed the extra seating position in the middle front and I also like the armrest feature.

I still have the buckets. They're decent but not perfect. They're dark blue velour and I'd let them go cheap. But I just haven't gotten around to advertising them. I was thinking of hitching a small trailer to the wagon and taking a bunch of stuff to the swap meet in the Spring.

Where are you located? I live north of Seattle which seems to be a barrier to my finding seats in the vacinity.

But it's the shipping that's likely to be big cost.

I have heard of people sending seats on Greyhound instead of Fedex or UPS or truck freight. Anyone have experience with that?

Greyhound has worked out well for me sending/receiving, being that you are in the PNW I'm not surprised parts are harder to find, seems less of these cars up that way for some reason. Greyhound might cost $100+ especially if it's coming across country, I just had a set of rear g-body seats from a member here sent from MD to WI, it was right about $100.

Good to know! There are a lot of Priuses, Bolt, Volt, Teslas, Insights, Sparks and other derivatives in the PNW. More and more there seems to be interest in G Body but they seldom restore them, they hot rod them!

As the guys have already said there are other/better options that bolt in. I'd and late-J-body buckets to the list (had them in my Buick) and 4th Gen F-body (a good road trip seat). Both just require swapping the rails.

These are 32-42 year-old cars. You are paying classic car tax now.

Chuck, I wouldn't let a bench seat keep me from enjoying the car while you look for a set. You've got a bunch of time and effort in that thing, and the seat swap can be done in a weekend. Rock the bench until you find a pair of buckets, and go shred some rubber.

As stated, you will need the inner brackets, which should be welded in.

Thanks sir! I hope I can get it on the road soon, with of without the seat swap. I have maybe another month of little tweaks to do before it is ready to go on the road again, and the weather here is not yet rubber shredding, maybe April 😀. There is no sound like the sound of a single tire slipping on a non LS diff, on every right turn, up any incline from a stop. I have several of those every time I drive it.

IMO power seats are a "Function" and both my Gbody's have them on both sides, for me if I am going to spend the time and money building my car I want to be able enjoy driving it while sitting in a position that is comfortable to me and not be stuck in a one size fits all seating position, but then again I feel the same way about having tilt steering.
