It would be 4-10mm self tapping bolts connecting the base to the firewall, and if I recall correctly, 4-13mm bolts attaching the column bracket to the dash. You'll see it when you stick your head under the dash and follow the column. Is that easy to do? I'm at work right now so I can't jump under and take a look at it. Is it just 4 bolts bolted to the firewall I need to loosen I'm assuming?

Thanks for clearing that up, Steve, for the bracket at the top I just remove the two nuts with a 5/8" socket to drop the column, like I posted, you work too hard..😛
Thanks for clearing that up, Steve,
I don't know where I got the 4-13mm bolts from....you're right though. It must have been something else I was working on...😵 I guess I was confused...Welcome to old age...😱
Do you think loosening the gear box will give it enough wiggle room? That might by the easiest approach. I prolly need .5in more on the splineEither that or break the gearbox loose from the frame to get some movement.

i was thinking about that and seeing if someone would recommend that. I figured it would be ok. It's going in the trash, saw coming nowwhy risk damaging the column on an item you are going to toss ? I would have lasted for a solid 30 seconds before I broke out the reciprocating saw and just cut the shaft above the joint
Nothing like breaking out a tool of persuasion from time to time! I'm kinda chuckling as i can hear Tim "The Toolman" Taylor in my head with the new binford 2000 recip saw lol!
