Looks can be deceiving, I wouldnt go to a pull a part. You may end up with a good one you may not, 50/50 shot. No offense but honestly it sounds like you have a cobbled together set up. There are too many variables in play here to know for sure what is going on. Your timing is still suspect in my opinion. Your carb is another issue altogether but without knowing one system is working fine its hard to tell if the other isnt. In my opinion if your gonna go for new buy that 75 dollar carb, if it is new, never used then it is a deal, you shouldnt be hesitating on that. As far as reverse, well it sounds like reverse is out. If those guys told ya the trans was good and its not then ya you got ripped off on that but the bigger picture is you got a lot of stuff for 200 bucks and they put it in so I wouldnt be down on it for that price. You need to find someone local that can help you. Any car clubs in your area? Any places where people go and cruise, or cruise ins in your area, go make a friend at one of these places. Its all stuff that takes a while to learn, I dunno about you but I learn best by watching an example then doing it myself with repetition, over time this stuff will be so easy for ya. I cannot wait until you get it all worked out, your gonna love your car again.

Well just a bunch of people really, Not really them.
But they wont return our calls and wont ever answer their supposed to come and tune it all up for me when I get the exhaust but they wont ever call back.

I am just going to take it to this new shop around my corner who does work pretty cheap.

I actually took my carb off, It was a the carb gasket was missing, so it was letting all the gas out through the cracks.
Went got that for 5$ and put it in.
Now it runs wont die out idled pushed it hard never died or flooded.
So I feel pretty dumb now haha.

But as for timing I think is still a problem as well.

I am going to go to this shop around the corner who works on my sisters car pretty cheap.

Also I have no idea about any clubs, I know there are a lot of young guys around my age.
But there into the big rims or the hydrolics.
But I mean I could talk to them they can or might know someone who could help.
But I don't know how to get a hold of them we rarely have car clubs, the last car show held here by guys from here was like 3 years ago so its pretty rare to see them out in their cars.

The air horn or the base gasket? Either way, WTF happened there? I am amazed it ran at all!

Mark,
I'm guessing the base gasket. It probably had a nice vacuum leak. I suppose any fuel residuals could've leaked out of there.
Although the horn gasket would've made more sense as far as a fuel leak is concerned.

It's hard to diagnose anything not being there. I'd get an estimate from a good carb builder to rebuild the Q-jet. I wouldn't gamble on a junkyard carb to run right straightaway... unless you were going to have it rebuilt or gone over anyway.

David, are saying that the car runs better now?

The base gasket, But I started it today and its still leaking gas, but its coming from the top and its flooding so much that its got like a inch of gas on top of my intake.

Yeah it was the base gasket.
I am going to just get everything checked over by someone much better than I.

It was running amazingly just yesterday when I first put the gasket on no leaking no choking or flooding.
But I left it alone overnight and now its coming out from the top so bad as I stated before its got at least an inch of gas on top of the intake.
