Many have problems with the Edelbrock carbs, guaranteed it would also be too rich. Get a Qjet done by Quadrajet Power or Ken G on here at Everyday Performance. The Street Demon 625 cfm and Quickfuel Slayer 600 cfm are much better new carbs but will no doubt be too rich out of box for your 305.

Take a look at this video, it's a good description on doing a rebuild and you'll see it's not that difficult
