Clear up excessive emissions stuff? 307 Q-Jet

A mechanic once told me I could take off the air pump and plug the holes at the heads. Is he right and what else could I do? I also just installed longtube headers and getting intake next month.

depending on where you live you could cut the catalytic converter out and block off the egr valve.

You won't gin a lot in performance. The air pump pumps air in on deceleration, not when you want power.

Takeing off the airpump won't hurt anything and it cleans up the engine compartment quite a bit also...
