In lieu of doing burnouts or snow angels I decided to keep working on the frame. Got the front portion fabbed up. Fortunately there weren't as many irregularities to fight this time, other than the GD rear brake line on the left side. As you can see I chopped out more of the floor for access.

It flows decently from front to rear. Way better than a mini-truck box frame.

Where this factory brace is, is well forward of where the cuts will be made; so it is a touch redundant. Yes, Virginia the control arms swing clear.

How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

Get to burn it all in tomorrow.

The way you’re going about this and your philosophy is right up my alley Mike. The most successful modifications shouldn’t look like modifications at all.
Kudos brother, I’m taking notes for use on The Juggernaut (you can never get the ride height too low), and am tuned in for the long haul.
Keep at it!

I seriously appreciate it, D!

Tossing these down here as a reminder to myself.

But, for those not in the know: the 80s F-body shares the same rear LCA as the G-body. The interesting thing is UMI designed two different sets of arms for the two platforms as the G-body comes factory with a control arm mounted sway bar, and the F-body uses a chassis mounted ARB. So the provisions are provided for our cars, and you pay for them with UMI. However, if you have converted to a chassis mounted ARB you can dip into the F-body catalogue and get access to superior options, and save a few dollars.

I should stop procrastinating and head out to the garage...

One side is mostly done. The other is a third of the way along. Then I remembered that I have to eat food periodically.

Welder fought me a lot, most likely user error, making a few than less than desirable looking welds. I swear I could hear the welder saying this to me:

I feel like this is the kit that the frame notch should be, but with tolerances I'm not sure how it would be possible.

Digging it!

Thanks!

The other problem is it took 10 hours to install (and I am feeling it this morning). And if you aren't a total butcher like me (willing to cut a hole wherever) the body would definitely have to come off... however, the body mods will still be partially required to make the most of the effort. In for a penny, in for a pound.

When it comes to projects like this, the real question to anyone is: How bad do you want "it"?

Revisiting this idea.

Obviously I have the templates and a physical beta installation now. I have the means to revise and digitize them, and can send them down the road to be water-jet/laser/plasma cut out by a local company. I even have a company to market and distributing them under. However, shipping would probably suck internationally (and nationally for that matter), as would being knocked-off by one of a half dozen *ssh*les (with the classic not the same, made a tweak, better mouse-trap logic applied) within 12 months or less. And then there is the high potential of dealing with *ss-clown customers who are just a bunch of unskilled malcontents.

Never mind.

This is a one off. However, as always I prefer to just share ideas with the community.
