Since I have little regard for my physical well-being, or pain, or homeschooling my kids I started work on the rear bracing.

The goal is to reduce as much flex and limit distortion in the modified rails, and put some reinforcement into the shock towers/spring pockets. I am also planning on installing some suspension droop limiters to keep the 4" driveshaft off of the 4" exhaust when jacking up a corner or letting the differential dangle. It should also help keep the springs from falling out when I jump a bridge or something.

First step was cutting a 42" long 1" OD bar to fit across the shock towers. Next I took to making four tabs for the upper bar to hold the down struts to the lower cross bar.

The last bound for the day was making the frame extensions (torque boxes?) which are designed to keep the cross bar down and out of the way of things (like the gas tank), and kind of hide everything away from view (at least at a glance). It is important to note that they don't hang lower than the spare tire well.

This concludes my Christmas vacation, 16 days well wasted. I'll continue to poke at this project as time allows and build the final bars and weld it all in. And then, maybe, just maybe, I'll cut the original frame out.

All of this high amperage thick wire welding had me burn through a small box of 0.035" tips (which usually last a year or more). So, I bought bulk this time.
