Re: CRUCIAL118's 86 CUTTY TPI/HSR BUILD w/ VIDEO

I went with White's Performance, in-house aluminum heads. Checked the internet about them and they got good reviews. I payed $700 for them. Also got the rockers, pushrods, and head bolts from them. Very good guys there. If I could do it again, I wouldn''t get the angle plug heads again. Even though the Hedman headers that I have were listed for use on angle plug heads, they still need a little persuasion with a BFH 😀 .

Car looks great, seen your video and I'm interested in your gauge set-up; do you mind shedding so light thw wiring and what not?

No problem. I have been going thru my computer, looking for pics that I took, but can't seem to find the file. The wiring was straight forward. I found a wiring label for each harness connection(behind the factory gauges)on this site. Can't remember where, but I believe it was on this site. I had the ralley pack gauges, so it was a little more intense, with the resistor(470 ohm/.5 watt) needed for my cs alternator.

I only used 6 wires for my gauges, all from connector 2(the connector on the left side of dash gauges, if looking at from driver's seat). (2)Black-ground, (3)Pink-fuel gauge, (10)Pink/Black-ignition input(aslo where I installed the inline resistor), (11)Lt Green-hi beam indicator, (12)Lt Blue-lh turn indicator, and (13)Dark Blue-rh turn indicator. The numbers associated with the wires are the pin numbers on the connectors. Each connector goes from 1-7(left to right) on the bottom row, and 8-14(right to left) on the top row.

I didn't use any of the wires for the sending units or tach in the connectors. I used the supplied wiring with the gauges I bought from Glowshift.com for the water temp, volt, oil pressure, and tach. I also ordered an electronic speedo sender(SUM-G2887-1) from Summitracing.com to use instead of a cable.

I bought the 2 green and 1 blue lights from Radio Shack. Don't forget to leave enough slack of wires to easily remove the gauge for servicing, if needed. And use ty-raps to make it look professional. 😀

Let me know if you need more info.

good look sir
Thanks. And the guy that sold the wheels is a car guy with good contacts for restoration, body work, and electronics. He's part of the "Just Klownin" Car Club.

I like it. Sounds good. Did you do your own chip burning, mail order, or just not tune it?
I'm now thinking about tuning my HSR. What are you guys with pre '96 FI using to tune? I am thinking of using the Ostrich 2.0 from Moates.net. I think I'll probably use TunerproRT. Is it something that is fairly easy to do?
