Thanks lg1200. It took a minute to get the engine block machined(long story) and took a while to get the money for the parts that nickel and dime you to death for an engine build, but I'm at it. While backing into the garage, I hit the engine that I was building. I was paying attention to my tool boxes while backing up and totally forgot about the engine back there. I busted my drivers taillight and scratched the tail filler panel. 😳 Oh well, I'm gonna be taking the engine out today, hopefully. Everythings loose, just gotta get over to my brother's to get the hoist though, but all ready for it.

Pics of the taillight... Oh well, guess I have another reason to go to the pick-n-pull. 😀

If you haven't gotten replacement tail lights, I have 2 pair of 81-83 tails that are in pretty good shape. I could do $60 for a set of them if your interested.
Got any pics, 84sscutty? Those are the ones with the chrome down the middle, right, no rocket?

That is correct, they are ones with the chrome down the center. Good shape and no broken tabs. I bought them from guys on here. I have 2 because one guy had not responded but I said I'd buy them before another set came along and I had already paid for them. I don't have a cutlass anymore so I just need to let someone else get some use out of them. A pic of each set:

Update...350 is out and 406 swap is about 90% complete. Still need to finish some minor stuff, but it's getting there...

Looking good! You are too late, they got rich off me last year. I am ready to hear it run.
😀 Me too! I tried last night about 9:30, but it backfired through the tailpipe. I guess the distributor is 180 off. I'll pull it and turn it 180 once I get back from vacation. Tired as hell, and I don't think the neighbors want to hear this thing running at 2500 rpm(for break-in) at 10:00 at night.

Re: Crucial118's 86 Cutty Salon 350TPI/400HSR build w/ video

Got an update for ya'll. Got the car running! 😀 The distributor was 180 off. When I rotated the distributor, it fired right up. Started to do the break-in routine, but 20 min in to it I realized that it wasn't necessary(cause it's a roller cam). 😳 So used to flat tappets. Anyway, the distributor was still a tooth off, so I had to pull it one more time(I hate distributors, never right the first time, or second, lol). I had to remove the shim from the starter I had, so the teeth would engage. So far the timing is at 20 degrees btdc, and the fuel pressure is at 42psi(with hose pinched). TPS is at .57 at idle. Starts with no hesitation and revs nicely, but I have to drive it tomorrow to see if it makes a difference under load. Seems as though there is a slight hesitation, in drive, from a stop at lower timing settings, but it could also have been the higher fuel pressure settings I had it set at(50psi or so). Anyway, the tuning is the fun part, right? 😀 There is an oil leak that I have to investigate before I take it for another run. I'll let you know how it pans out.
