Re: crucial118's 86 Cutty Salon build

Running good, but still have to build confidence for a 2.5hr trip. Still making sure all the nuts and bolts are tight. 😀 Probably next year.

Ya, if it was me I would drive it around before I put it on the rode also. I should be ready to take the trip next year too.

Re: crucial118's 86 Cutty Salon build

Yesterday, I put on a PowerMaster 140 amp alternator. I had no idea that alternators can be clocked. I dented my tall valve cover to clear the charging post of the alternator when I first bought them. Then I did a search when I received my PM140a and saw that alternators can be clocked. Damn, now I have a dent in my valve covers for nothing.

Also been doing a little "body work." Not the best by far, just something to stop the rust and repair the sorry *ss body that I paid for when I had the car re-sprayed about a year ago. It started bubbling and cracking a little bit ago.

Re: crucial118's 86 Cutty Salon build

Every time I look at your engine all I think about is build me another one. Also looks like I could learn something from you. I tried to do some body work on my the 78 I sold to my cousin and it look like my 2 year old did the work.

Believe me, it looks better from afar. This is the 3rd time that I have done this. 1st time was when I took the vinyl off and it didn't last long. 2nd time after the paint was done, the paint shop did a piss-pore job and I did a little something to it and it didn't last long. I think the reason for them not lasting long is because I didn't put an enamel on the primer and the primer soaked up moisture. This time I put on some enamel that was close enough to the paint color. Hopefully it will last long enough to get the whole car painted again. We'll see. You don't want to learn nothing from me, I was taught from the "it's already f'd up, so it can only look better" school
