Re: crucial118's 86 Cutty Salon build

STAGE 5

The popping and sputter remained, but only at low rpm in DRIVE. Once I get over 1500 rpm, it picks up torque. Put a new IAC valve on it, issue remained. Set everything to stock, issue remained. Ordered an obd1 scanner and contacted the chip makers too make sure everything looked good on the recorded datalog. I almost gave up on this thing, then I did what I should have did in the first place. Put a compression test on it :blam: ...#1 and #7, no compression. Leak down tested and #1 leaking through exhaust  Didn't even bother checking #7. :wtf: I will never buy anything performance related(unless new) off CL. Guess you live and learn. Should have at least had them checked. Well, I finally said "F-it" and ordered a set of AFR 195s from my pimps at Summit Racing. 1 good thing coming out of this project car is that I can quickly disassemble my engine down to the block with my eyes closed.

I know you are glad you found the problem, but hate that you have to spend more money.
Pretty much.

Re: crucial118's 86 Cutty Salon build

Heads on. Ignition box back on. Everything seems to be all good. No more backfiring/popping/sputtering. Pulls nice and smooth at any rpm. Slight oil leak that I need to id, but very happy with the engine right now. Will post some pics soon.
