charging is one hurdle to overcome and you did it. Making power, smooth ride ( shocks ), are all afterthoughts if it's just going to be a DD. So I am assuming it was the alternator and not the batteries you swapped in that were the problem ? Or is it just a guess ?
No it was the alternator it wouldn't charge with the batteries from my crew cab eather I only put them in so I could make the trip to Jackson tomorrow I'm putting the other ones back in it.

I didn't get anything done on it yesterday except I ordered new front brake pads. Instead I helped move a rear-ended shop to south Jersey and scored some parts for the crew cab. Now it's time to start my first week of driving this baby.

Well I'm hlf way threw the week and so far all I've had to do is add some air to the tires. I'm not complaining though they were free. Actually i think only the left rear is leaking I think the rest were just never filled all the way. It dose seem to smoke excessively when I'm on it but I really don't care what's behind me. The more I drive it the better it seems to run hopefully this weekend I get time to change the oil it's about 9 years overdue maybe that's why it's smoking so much or maybe the turbo isn't the only modification that was done and I'm rolling coal lol it's no Duramax but it's way better than any of the naturally aspirated GM diesels I drove years ago.

I recommend, STRONGLY, you get an exhaust temp gauge on it if it doesn't have one. If it's running lean it will burn up. Rich isn't so bad but the turbo is breathing that 🤬 too. You may have a bad oil seal in the turbo too. Smokey diesels make me worry.

It has one but it's mounted on the bottom of the dashboard so I've never actually looked at it to even know if it works.

No and I'm not going to tow a small block spinning a Paxton or fill the bed with leaf blowers eather
Of course not. Mount them under the chassis. You get both thrust for forward momentum that way PLUS the building pressure generates some lift offsetting some weight.

But instead of leaf blowers use jet dryers like the race track uses.
