Fellow New Yorker's, looks like the party might over for us

I've had the (mis)pleasure of having to go to NYC.... any dumping is well deserved.

I think "upstate" new york should build a series of pipelines for all their municipal sewage to converge around Nyack, then dump it into the Hudson - treated, but smelly, and give back to NYC as much sh*t as it gives the rest of the state....

People are accustom to city life, and I believe that goes double for NYC, but I could be wrong. To each his own regarding where you live and where you are happy living.

The issue I have with downstate, from my upstate perspective, is not someone's choice to live there or my lack of enthusiasm for the area, but rather that we have to abide by what comes out of there - the law that is the subject of this thread.

Is the governor that signed this clusterf*** into law, the same one being eyeballed by the Feds for being a naughty boy?

"It was already loud before, but I want it louder, trying to get some pops into it," he said. "I know (it drives people crazy), but I dunno, I like the noise." That says it all. I know I am an annoying little asshat but I don't care how much it bothers you. Start writing those tickets!!

As far as I know the idea was around for a few years but it was the woman who now holds the position finally signed off on it. Just something else to contend with.

She was the Lieutenant Governor who went into hiding when the feces hit the fan with the nursing home deaths and sexual allegations. She had to know what was going on but, went into hiding instead.
Hochul will hopefully be just a 2 year stain on New York.

They also said it would be illegal to pass inspection with a loud exhaust. Sure. Just like the tinted window law. At first my inspection guy said no way would he pass a car with dark window tint because of blowback on him. Now he says he can't afford to turn away business just because of that. Now he instructs his customers to claim they tinted the windows AFTER he inspected it. So we still have totally blacked out windows. Same with the dirt bikes and ATVs. We have unlicensed morons driving on the highways at high speed with dirt bikes, no lights at night, and no helmets, wearing shorts and sneakers. They never ask themselves "what if....". I have even seen them pop wheelies if front of the Police station. Because no cop car is going to catch a 16 year old on a dirt bike that thinks he will live forever. Like I said, I will believe it when I see it.

So, your saying MrSony who was asking about driving across the country with straight pipes and no mufflers? That type of guy?

And that's the rub, and happening all over.

If your tiny, insular, self aggrandizing community decide something is what you want for yourselves and like it, or, decide it works/is necessary for you, you've got no business trying to force it upon everyone else. Yet, over and over, it's happening everywhere.

As many of you note, when 300 Sq mi are dictating the rules for 55,000 Sq mi, that's a problem.
