I will be re-using the springs, they are pretty new. I only rode on them about 4 months before I parked the car. Maybe down the line in the future I will get lowering springs but for now this will have to do. Thanks for the tip though.

Then I would use a spring compressor...

You can also loop a heavy ratcheting strap under the floor jack and over the frame. That's how I unloaded my springs since the engine was out of the car. It worked well for me. The strap I used was about 4" wide. I used a spring compressor to put it back together. I got one on the loan-a-tool from O'Reilly's. It worked well. It was this style......

The one I used was new so I lubed the threads with ARP Ultra-torque and that seemed to really help.

I rented that exact tool. Only had enough time to do one side but it was easy. I only used the threaded rod and the hooks. Inserted the rod through the hole in the frame where the shock goes through added the washers and tightened it up until enough pressure was released fun the lca.

I'Ill finish up tomorrow. Time to make dinner for the family.

Fella's, any tips on how to remove the front coil springs without killing myself? I feel like I should have done this prior to removing the body. I usually put the jack under the control arm unscrew everything and slowly drop it. However with no weight on the car I want to make sure I do it the safest way.
I had the same thought about removing springs after body was off. I used a jack, some ratchet straps for security, a bfh for the ball joints, and some long bar clamps. I was still nervous. I learned that removing the lower shock bolts is a good idea. They can get stuck and you have to mess around with the spring still under tension. I did mine after parts store was closed. The sad thing is that I have a spring compressor somewhere in my garage or shed but could not locate it.

Progress only a little but progress non the less
