Gray Man, Inc.

So here's the skinny on this pig. I hinted at it a few weeks ago because I'd already done the deal, just hadn't brought it home yet. One of my dad's New Balance biker buddies has had some ongoing health issues for the last couple years since his wife died. He decided to liquidate and move across the country to live with his sister. This came up for sale and I jumped on it. If I told you what I paid, you probably wouldn't believe me. Since it was located 450 miles away, it took some creative scheduling to get it home. As usual, my dad was instrumental. We brought it home last week. The batteries were shot and got replaced, but other than that, zero drama.

Previous owner was a retired truck driver, and this thing reflects that. He used it to haul a 5th wheel toy hauler with a pair of Harleys inside. It's probably pretty standard for the era. 2wd, automatic, power everthing including seat, cloth interior, hideaway hitch under the bed, brake controller, Alcoas with OK tires, and obligatory running boards. It's got an aftermarket exhaust and filthy K&N. Supposedly it's had some engine work done, but I'm not sure what. Runs great and pulls like an old 12Valve. Gets about 18mpg.

It's just really, really ugly.

This is going to replace my dad's GMC as the dedicated tow/haul rig. He'll be prepping it for sale over the next few days.

I just saw the yellow wire and the red crimp connector. It can't possibly be worse than what mine was.

At least they are legit Autometer gauges.

I'm jealous. I want one for a doner to swap the Cummins into something else. That one looks too intact to cut up though. Congrats on the find!

I finally got my swingarm swapped yesterday. There was a new rear sprocket, chain, and shock in the mix too.

it was snowing when I finished up so I didn't get a chance to ride it, but I can definitely feel a difference with the new Bradley shock. I think it's going to be a great match with the RaceTech emulators up front.

If all the dudege needs is a scuff and shoot in some single stage, that's a win!

No def, no egr, just low cost reliable towing.

The Dodge color is "urban camo"

I stopped by my dad's to see what he was up to and got there just in time to help him wrestle his de-arched rear spring back in. It's about a 2" drop. He may still do a 1" shackle drop on the front. I think it needs just a bit of rake. Maybe it's just right though, since the tires are all the same size and not bigs n littles. I don't know.

He also gave most of it a quick once-over with some Scotchbrite to knock the oxidation off. The spots with more surface rust and staining will get more attention later. He's still planning to give it a coat of semi-gloss clear to preserve it's age and experience.
