You might also avoid touching the H4 bulb with your bare skin...something about the oil in your skin that it doesn't like. A little swab of alcohol will take care of that.

another tip if the lens gets a little foggy from moisture use a hair dryer or heat gun but careful with the heat gun to dry up the moisture good luck and have a good day Jeff from Winnipeg
I make sure I do not touch the bulb but I wipe them with alcohol just the same....I also use dielectric grease on all the connections to keep moisture out of them....
