No, I'm adjusting on the ported vacuum. Seriously? I don't have an air cleaner on because it's not painted yet.

Bro you needed help I am just trying to give you some.

Sometimes people get frustrated and overlook things.

Just like with the spring and valve on the steering pump.

The air idle should be adjusted with an air cleaner on.

I was trying to be funny. If it's fat without an air cleaner on, it's going to be a bit worse taking away a little air by putting it on. This is not a basic tuning issue. I'm starting to suspect a weak ignition coil. The spring swap on the power steering pump did not fix it.

Do you have the right coil and module combination? I just learned recently there are two coils and 2 modules for a hei depending on bop or chevy/ caddy there is a coil with black, red ,yellow wires and one with black, red, white wires. The resistance is different between the two coils and take a slightly different module and it can cause anything from spark issues to constantly burning out modules

I just tried plugging in the vacuum advance to full vacuum and the engine never changed rpm or anything. I have a brand new in box MSD HEI with cap and coil. I'm going to switch them out just to see if it makes a difference. I think the HEI in the Salon now has an adjustable vacuum advance pot but I can't find the dinky little allen wrench that came with distributor. Was going to play with that but I'll try the MSD first

I just swapped out the entire ignition system and it did nothing for the over rich situation. I did pull a plug and it's not as sooty as it was a couple days ago before changing jets. It still has black around the ring and backside of strap. Maybe I should put in some 57 jets. I just used my Holley tuning DVD and it said to not go less than 10 jet sizes. If I remember, it had 66 and now I got 59. I've just never jetted one that low on a small block. I'm running AC R45TS plugs which is what I always run in my stock headed small blocks. I just submitted an email to the Holley tech department. This Summit cam #1103 is probably what my issue is

When you are idling, you shouldn't be running on the jets, right? You're running on the idle circuit instead?

Sometimes, on Holley carbs, you have to make an idle feed restriction out of some wire and use it to meter down the fuel in the idle circuit. I see it more on 750 vacuum secondary versions. I need to address this on my Aero Coupe.

Last night I noticed it started running rough. I swapped the distributors back out this morning. Still running rough. I put a new set of plugs in it and still rough. I took off the Demon from the El Camino and put it on the Salon. No more running rough. WTF? Makes me wonder if there's some casting flash stuck in that Holley. So now the real issues begin. My steel fuel line is not going to work since the fuel inlet on the Demon is on the right rear. My custom throttle linkage bracket won't work and my stock air cleaner won't work. Going to have to do some thinking to get the stock air cleaner to work. Just another day in my crappy life
