This is the original car lot emblem that was on the car. Dean Bailey is still in business but not sure if they still sell new Oldsmobiles.

Dude, if they are selling new Oldsmobiles, you'll need to swing in there and find out where they are getting their inventory. I'd love to know.

Great job on this project, by the way! 8)

Got the other dash inserts out and scotchbrited them. Cleaned them with wax and grease remover, sprayed them with SEM light oak, and after drying, brushed on leather brown enamel. I then immediately wadded up a Lowes plastic bag and blotted the brown. I have them sitting in the sun to dry. I'll clear coat them with urethane clear out of my spray gun. All the panels were different grains is why I had to paint them. Its redneck woodgraining. Lol

It may be "RedNeck", but the pictures make it look like they came out really well.

I then TRIED to use a paint pen but it left it with brush lines. I'll sand the silver and try something else.

That's a cool personal touch. My car still has half of the dealer license plate frame and I've often thought of trying to find a nice complete one to replace it.

...and I got the sarcasm about still selling new Oldsmobiles.

I this is going to be very cool once finished. It is looking good so far. I have a friend who has a solara with v8. I am not sure what the whole setup is, but sounds like you both have cool projects. Are you interested in a rendering of the car? If so just send me an email. You can access my website and check out my work by clicking the link in my signature. I used that VHT header paint and it has held up for months. It looks really nice. The engine looks great. I like the painted intake. It does give it more of a stock look.

Went to the salvage that has the 2 aero's and bought a complete dash with wiring harness. Mine has all the letters gone that labels the fuses. I also needed the inner panel that houses the speedo assembly. All my upper tabs were broke off. I got all 3 factory radio plugs so my stock AM/FM cassette will connect correctly. Got another rear bumper cause mine had a dent and the rear brace was rusted with mounting studs broke off. Also got the passenger inner fender. It was a good pick.

Glad you're keeping it. Bummed I have to wait to see it finished.
