What a mess. I'm replacing all seals in my Saginaw 4 speed but one has been hard trying to find. Its the speedometer gear seal. This is the tiny metal/rubber one that goes in the middle for the plastic gear. My local Oreilleys could not find it. The kid actually showed me a pic and asked if that was it. He showed me a speed sensor that was electric??????? I told him 1978. I went to NAPA and they ordered it. I just got back from picking it up and its way to small. I guess I need to go to a transmission shop. I bought a seal kit but this one and the front shaft cover seal was not included. Go figure

Could it be the same one as in an automatic transmission? Rock Auto lists ATP SO34 that looks like what you are describing in the picture.

Kinda funny I went online to Oreilleys and set up the parts search for my car. Found the seal Pioneer#759024 and it says manual trans, 250 250C, and turbo350. I actually just looked at my plastic 20 tooth speedo gear that the seal goes around and its worn. Went to ebay again and found a brand new GM one. Hopefully there won't be any leaks after doing this much hassle

like everone, I'm glad to see you back at it! I'm really loving the build so far, and these cars are growing on me!

Glad you found the seal, and are back on the project.

Been gone all week to the Trifive Chevy Nationals in Bowling Green Kentucky. Pretty exhausted but going to start packing up the 55 with the scattered parts in the garage so I can get the Salon back in there. I have decided to hit it hard to the end. I'm estimating no more than 2 months for the Salon to be back in driving service. It is waaaay closer to being finished than my 55. I may have one of my old jobs back at an auto shop as an installer of lift/lowering kits and bolt on accessories. So I am going to need a car ASAP. I have some relatives coming tomorrow and will be here till sunday so I'm not going to get much done. BUT, when they leave out, I'll be starting . So stay tuned to see a quick transformation of a not well liked body style into a beautiful roadworthy daily driver. Definitely long overdue
