Man, this sucks. Sorry to hear its going this way. This is why we really have to enjoy the car days that go well, since not all of them do. Take a step back. You'll get there. You've done a lot of beautiful work on that car.

I need to regroup now that I've had some sleep. I was pretty fired up last night. I have another 350 engine on the stand but it has flat top pistons and a bigger cam. I'd have to use my heads. It was for my El Camino. I'd like to use the Goodwrench 350 out of the El Camino in the Salon. I want more of a stock engine for the Salon. Can't tear down my daily work truck though. If I take the 350 from the Salon to a machine shop, I know it won't be done for at least 2-3 weeks. I need to go pace around in the garage for a bit I think

Maybe put a cam and lifters in the motor in the Salon, replace the head gaskets and then flush the hell out of the cooling system. I've used Evaporust before with good success. Sometimes less is more.

If I have to put in cam and lifters again, I'm gonna pull it out and have it vatted. I flushed it for about an hour and if I stick my finger in the holes, crud comes off on it.

Sorry that it worked out that your water jackets are that dirty. Can you see any defect on the cam lobe that dug into that lifter?
