how to convert car 3 wire to 1 wire alt

this part of the add should give you the clue...True one-wire hookup, you will need only the main charging wire connected for full output.....you don't need the 12 volt wire to excite the alternator

googled = you only need to retain the "BAT" wire. The #1 & #2 terminal wires can be eliminated. Don't be surprised to find that the #2 wire only goes a short way into the harness and spliced into the "BAT" wire.

You'll probaly want to keep the #1 wire tho for your warning lite or gauge

There is no reason to use a one-wire alternator, especially if the car already has a three-wire SI-series alternator. You'll loose the GEN light function and depending on the quality of the one-wire alternator, it may not charge at idle. If you want a high output alternator, get a three wire version and simply plug it in. Problem solved.

thanks alot....where would i hook the #1 wire for the idiot light. Do I just leave it off and take out the bulb. I have a reliable volt meter also.
