only if you believe in god, and take it out of the picture does life become irrelevent. otherwise most of the world would have no morals and would have killed everyone around them and/or themselves along time ago.

Which is one of the great arguments FOR the existence of God. Man left to his own devices is not a moral being. Man intrinsically pursues his own lusts and base desires. Only God could elevate mankind above this base state, and His influence allowed man to rise to the level of civility we experience today. That is actually what I believe. I do not, as the Modernists believed, think that mankind can find morality without the influence or existence of God. Nor do I think, as do the Post-Modernists, that God does not exist so absolute morality can never exist due to each human being having the right to be their own free moral agent with none more right than another. Yes, this is a bit complex and philosophical, but it's a fun argument to have ( at least for me as I am not exposed to anyone intelligent enough in my daily life to discuss such things.)

I don’t have anything against people who want to own a Prius, for whatever reason be it the MPG or the feeling they get that it makes them feel more, “green,” or whatever.

In turn, I don’t want those who own a Prius telling me what I should (or shouldn’t) drive. I’m getting sick of these “green” people trying to shove all their viewpoints on the environment up my azz, or them lobbying to turn all their views in to laws. I do believe people were put on Earth to choose their own destinies and to live their own lives according to their needs, desires, and wishes. That is what makes people happy. One of my wishes is to continue to enjoy my old car hobby, and I truly don’t need any “green” idiots telling me I am no longer allowed to do that because they think my ’78 LeMans is killing their tree.

A side note on the Prius and its nickel battery. As we all well know in the world of cars not everything that should be recycled is properly recycled or disposed, I wonder what is going to happen with Prius batteries that just end up getting dumped somewhere. One Prius battery alone likely contains more hazardous material in it than the total of hazardous materials contained in a dozen regular cars.

you do realize that the majority of the world does not believe in god right? especially not the jewish/christian/islamic god. but most of the world (politicians excepted) has a moral code. sure it differs from country to country, or more correctly from culture to culture but it is there. and it long predates mono-theism. if you look at statistics the last few years you could say that the people who should be the moral pillars (religious leaders) are the most lacking.

uncletruck: that's what pisses me off about the greenies too. "do what "you want, but don't force your views on me

Actually, Christians and Muslims alone account for over 50% of the world's population.

Does that mean they all follow their beliefs?

Who knows? 85% of the world does not identify themselves as "atheist/nonreligious".

not being jewish/christian/muslim doesn't make you non-religious or an atheist. there are a LOT of other religions out there. some of them are much, much older than christianity or judeasim.
and if india and china are by far the worlds most populous countries, and both have "pagan" religions, how is 50% of the worlds population j/c/m?
now throw in japan, "native" americans, south american indians (old aztec, mayans, and incas), africa, south pacific islands, central european wiccans, druids (yes they are still around), satanists etc...

Did Gore say something to the effect about the reason last winter was so cold was because of global warming? I seriously cannot believe people buy into his crap. It just conditioning the mindset that the humans are the enemy and must die to save the Earth from our terrible destructive forces.

But I still get a kick out of seeing these self righteous snobs driving their Prius' with their Obama stickers. Nothing better than hippie elitism.

No sh*t. I was just pulling the two biggest ones that are already over half the world's population to show that there's no way most people are atheist.

You know there are Christian and Muslim Indians and Chinese, right? And that China + India = about 37% of the world's population?

Yes, and that's the other 35% of the world that aren't atheist/nonreligious.

I'm not seeing what's so hard about this.
