Hummer: More Green Than Prius?

Anyhow... Back (sort of) to the original subject, I agree that you should be able to own a Pious, but my big issue is with these people trying to force me to live as they wish me to. Most of the more radical elements of the green movement are Marxists who have seen the failure of their theory to gain popularity, and wish to force it's implementation. So, fear tactics are being used to coerce the proletariat into following their way of thinking. This way, they can take over private property without paying for it under the auspices of saving the --insert endangered species here--. They can force people to change their purchasing habits through legal coercion, and impose high taxes on items they deem unacceptable. If you read the works of Marx and Engels, you will be surprised by just how much of their thought is played out by the modern left.

Most so-called "Liberals" are not that liberal in their political philosophy. Most are liberal only to those who wish to do as they say, they do not wish to extend the ability to descent to their adversaries.

I would also argue that hard-core environmentalism has become a religion for many of these people. They have rejected traditional religious thought and replaced it with something else in order to fill the void in their lives caused by a lack of meaning.

I will also add that Atheism is a religion. It is based on the belief that there is no God or higher power than one's self. You cannot disprove the existence of God out of hand any more than you can prove it. Thus, it is a belief system, even if it's beliefs are just disbelief.

"If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice!" Anyone name that song? 😉

I agree, it takes just as much faith to believe the isnt a god, than to believe there is one. Thats why I find a good amount of humor in folks who preach about no god or being atheist. Even though reality is in their favor, ultimately it's still an assumption

No one will ever know the truth in this lifetime, that's why I don't subscribe to either. Belief is the death of intelligence, and when you 'believe' something it closes the doors to any other arguments, no mater how rational they are. But most people need absolute truth, I guess that's why agnostic's make up such a small percentage.

Fact is that the majority of people on Earth do believe in a God.. not that there's anything wrong with that, its just that religion, like a political stance, is the leading cause of death. You could argue that war isn't Christian. 'Thou shall not Kill'. But killing in the name of 'God and Country' 'OK'.. and we've been doing this for 4000 years. I don't see it changing anytime soon.

Freewill, by Neil Peart in the band Rush. I love that band, greatstuff.

85% of the world does not identify themselves as "atheist/nonreligious".
when most people say something like this they mean that that 85% is J/C/M. they think that you are a j/c/m or an atheist. an atheist is someone who does not believe in god. atheism does not have priests, dogma, ceremonies or any of the rest. therefore it is not a religion. a belief, yes.
yes china has muslims. about 1% of their population. 90% of them are buddist or taoist (that is, if the communist government didn't persecute all religious groups and people could admit to it). india has a whole 14% muslim population. an overwhelming majority is hindu. buddists, hindus and others are not atheists or non-religious, and they sure ain't jews, christians, or muslims.

I'd like to add that calling Judaism one of the Big Three is pretty misleading since there are more Hindus than Jews, more Buddhists than Jews, more Confucians than Jews, and more Sikhs than Jews. We in the white countries tend to ignore Eastern religions as being significant since Jews have a disproportionate amount of influence in Europe and America.

I'd also like to add that no, atheism isn't a religion since it is not a formal dogmatic belief system but yes it is a belief and form of faith. An atheist, to be an atheist by definition, must believe that there is no god. This is unprovable. Agnosticism is not a belief since it states that there is no proof of god or lack of god. It is the only 100% logical view of the supernatural.
(Whether or not what we consider logic is 100% in line with all that exists is up for debate)

woah guys, no more religion. 😢 Were car guys here  Lets go out and burn some fuel, rubber and........fuel?

i will make one more religious based post. the reason that judeasim is considered among the big 5 religions is that it's the first major monotheistic religion and christianity and islam are both based and rooted in it. and the reason that there aren't a lot of jews is because they keep getting massacred. and name me 10 politically powerful jews outside of israel. the whole "the jews are running the world"thing is complete bullshit! at no point in history have the jews controlled europe or america or any other country, except israel of course. and even that was taken away from them a few times. again people are believeing the propoganda put out by the catholic church, an entity that DID run europe.

another song quote (cars this time) "gimme fuel, gimme fire, give me that which i desire!!!!"

"Fuel", by Metallica.

As for politically powerful Jews, The US probably has 10 of them. However, I do not think they intend to rule the world and control things. The whole thing comes from the fact that usury ( charging interest) was not permitted for Christians under the Holy Roman Empire, and Jews were permitted to do so. Thus, it is no surprise that Jews took over the banking industry, as they were legally denied the right to do much else, including owning property. No conspiracy by the Jews, but Antisemitism on the part of Rome. Also in that part of history is why they wound up running the diamond trade, and many other careers that are stereotypically Jewish. None of it was a conspiracy, it was just putting food on the table.

I'm not sure where the whole defensive rant about Jews started, but given that only 2% of the United States population is Jewish compared to their large percentages in positions of power (media, corporations and banking) and you'll see they saturate those areas pretty well, which gives them quite a bit of influence in the US & the World for only being 2% of the United States.
