I used the adapter then a 90º an fitting, the 3an ss flex line 18" and then a 3 an to 4 an adapter and then a short 6" 4 an ss flex line to the throw out bearing

I'm not all that secure with a flex hose inside the bell housing with moving parts. But when i go flex i have no choice.

I'm actually looking to just replace the rubber brake hose i'm using now with a SS hose.

Re: Hydraulic clutch set up. Wish me luck.

the reason why the brass fitting is leaking is it's not an AN thread. Don't worry about using flex lines right to the throw out bearing, just about ever oval track race car you see is using flex lines. Plus the flex lines for brake are put to a much higher pressure than the line for the clutch

Re: Hydraulic clutch set up. Wish me luck.

No, the thread is correct. The flare is not right. I tried to use a 45 degree tool to do a 37 degree flare. i kinda knew it was questionable, but tried it anyway. Gotta stop rushing things. lol The Russell adapters are a true 37 degree flare made for the other ends. I'll post pics when i get them.

I see that all racing arenas use the flex lines inside the bell housing, but the factory extends them out side. I like that idea better.

what factory runs a hydraulic throw out bearing?

Re: Hydraulic clutch set up. Wish me luck.

Ford has been running them since the mid 80s.. GM started in the late 90s. I hve a 98 GM hydraulic bearing. Originally the lines stuck out the side of the bell housing, then connected to the hoses.

I have a 2000 s10 with a 4.3l and its a factory hydraulic throw out bearing......I will be doing a clutch and slave cylinder in a week or so.

Re: Hydraulic clutch set up. Wish me luck.

thanks for that info, I would never have guessed Ford and GM use hydraulic throw out bearings.
