Was the carb ever taken apart? If so, maybe the throttle plates were not centered properly.

There are 3 different idle speeds. Cold idle which is 2,000 rpm, curb or normal warm idle which is 600 rpm, and the A/C idle speed which is 1,000 rpm when thd kicker is on. All idle speeds are checked in drive with parking brake on. Putting it in park will throw your readings off, it must be in drive. Must likely problems are vacuum leaks. Sometims both the carb mounting gasket and airhorn gasket need retorquing after a few heat cycles. Check thd carb mounting torque while it is hot.

If you still have CCC, you can find vacuum leaks fast with a dwell meter and a can of carb cleaner. The ecm will react to any change in the A/F mixture from sucking cleaner in through even the slightest leak. You will also need a Mityvac to check all the vacuum diaphragms such as the choke pulloff, brake booster, vacuum motors, EGR valve, etc. Even a bad PCV grommet in your valve cover can lean out your idle.
No CCC. Just a qjet. I live in America, I can do that. :p I've got my fast idle (coldest) set at 1500, it drops to about 1100, then 750 hot. Thanks for the info though.

Are you running all the stock components? By that I mean a THERMAC air cleaner. That will have the silver tube bringing hot air from the exhaust manifold to the air cleaner. A thermostatic valve in the air cleaner keeps the incoming air @100°. The stock carb was designed to work with that temperature air but even a modified carb likes nice warm dry air in Wintertime. Without the THERMAC you have changing atmospheric conditions that definitely affect how the engine runs.

Dont have the tube. Have everything else though. What vacuum source does the flap need?

If I set the idle when hot to 750, drive around... The idle will go up to about 900. Let it cool off and warm up again in Park, it stays. Makes me think weights are sticking like spidereyes mentioned. I can also put my hand over the snorkel and it will idle down but still run decently normal. So it's getting air from somewhere.

If you did not have these problems with the carb you were using before this new rebuilt carb have you contacted Everyday Performance?

Did you reuse the base gasket??

are you using a 1/8 or 1/4 inch base gasket?

if you are using just a plain thin paper gasket thats your leak

I have a 1/2 spacer using two 1/16 parts store gaskets. Its a layered phenolic spacer. I need the spacer due to the way Buick qjet linkage is.
