I just painted a TH400 with less than a 1/2 can of VHT cast aluminum and thats a lot larger than a manifold. One can should be more than enough.
As far as the thermostat housing, didnt we go through this on your previous thread ? If I recall didnt you have the correct one already ?
And as far as the gasket issue. BUY THE GASKET. Theres a 90% probability that you'll need to take it all apart all over again if you use the original. You really want to take all that crap apart again when it leaks ?
I dont think theres anyone on this site thats trying to steer you in the wrong direction with their advice. Its obvious that youre trying to stay within a tight budget but theres certain things that you dont skimp on. Just sayin.
And last but not least. Read through some of the threads on here. You'll notice one big thing. No cuss words. Dont go all Samuel L Jackson in your comments. LOL 😉

We all understand a limited budget and lack of funds to do the things on our cars we would really like to do. I have followed along your threads mostly in the background, as many others have, and understand you are learning and would like to do things as right as you can. While there are many different approaches to accomplish the end goal of the question you are asking, you must understand that no one here, at least from what I've seen on your threads, that is deliberately trying to steer you in the wrong direction. We are all using the premise of your original posts about how you want to get your car up and running so you can get to work so you could make more money to further yourself and your car. There is some advice you are quick to dismiss even though it is a crucial step in doing things the right way because you don't have the money. Believe me when I tell you, We All Get The Lack Of Money Argument! In a case like that, we stop, we save and we then move forward. While removing broken bolts and buying things things you might not want to get is frustrating and may not be easy, we here are usually for the love of the car first and want to see it saved and done as right as possible.
Please understand that lashing out at the few who are completely frustrated with helping you is NOT the way to move forward with your project. There will always be those who will not be in your corner on many things throughout your life and learning to deal with them in a professional way will get you much more respect then the belligerent verbal abuse you have exhibited here.

We all wish you the best on your car building so let's move forward in a more professional manner and concentrate on the task at hand or you will find less and less guys will be willing to help.
