Its not the housing, its the carrier that the gear bolts to that matters. And in the modern world, you can buy thick 3.xx gears to fit a 2.xx carrier. No big deal anymore.
Yeah, I mean 100% drop in. Pull old carrier, ring, pinion out, new seals and what not, and drop "new" stuff in. I know they will either need rebuilt or what have you, but I mean literally drop in and go. No changing axles, or swapping to different size bearings or anything.

Exactly Texas. I have a series two carrier if I'm correct. 2.29 gears. Would ideally like to find a 3.08 with my Th350 and low end power 350.
