Lets see those air cleaners!

Got two for ya:

First is from the first build I did on the car.
I loosely copied a functional cowl induction setup from a '70 Chevelle with a cut down and modified air filter base. I fabricated and welded in the matching portion on the hood, and used "bulb seal" type weatherstrip to seal it.

Second, I decided some years later that I wanted something different this time, so I came up with something of my own.

This one is a scratch built ram air setup with dual 4" inlets.
Draws air from just under the headlights, thru filters hidden on the front side of the radiator support, and up to the carb.
The aluminum trim rings were custom machined to my specs on a friend's CNC.

damn that 4" ram set-up just needs say a custom "top plate" say with a olds rocket centered? niCE donovan! im working on a "continuous" 4" dual set-up using schedule forty black pvc(gonna hydro dip carbon fiber when done) heated to get the "continuous" bend😉 on my 5.3/4l80 in one of my 87 SS's.

I want to do what Rktpwrd did to his in the first pic. It looks clean it's functional and it doesn't hide the engine like dual snorkels do...well IMO it doesn't. This is what i have for now LOL

Greetings guys; I guess I should post my set up. The down side is it trapped too much heat under it & boiled the gas in the float bowls on hot days after shutting engine off. So I had to cut a couple of holes in the hood to vent hot air. Ended up using Cadillac fender vents, problem solved. Ol'e Bob.

Not the fanciest setup, but it works good with the limited space
