Thanks TIE for the detailed reply on what one would need for this swap, I did know most of this but yesterday was not my day and maybe frustrations came out in my post that were not warranted or came out of context....

One of my hurdles will be obviously the fuel tank, I will look for possible options to mount a OBD2 tank in the car (not in trunk :) ), or if anyone makes an aftermarket tank that I can use. And bribes are not my style, that will not go down ;) I do however feel the need to go make an appointment at my local referee station and at least talk to the inspector and see what direction he leads me in if they will even entertain my questions. And the E-ROD engine is too expensive for me at this point, but the question arises why that can pass and a production engine can't. I am sure there is a technicality that the engine and computer was never intended to be sold to go in a specific vehicle/platform so they get away with it. Someone must know the loophole as I am just guessing.

I do have the tank EVAP and harness, front and rear O2's, 2 cats and pre heaters, EGR, engine harness and computer/ALDL port etc. Everything except the tank, it was too large to even be considered.

I am still working on getting the tire sizes I want to run, looking at a 215/65/15 for the front. I see on this site a couple of members use them with good success and look good with the 255/60 out back. I am keeping the original wheels for future wants/needs but if the need to sell them I will post them up here first so someone can use them for their project or ride.

Thanks everyone for the info and direction, keep them coming :)

Not too much to post, just tearing down the LQ4 and trans. I pressure washed the longblock, lots of crud came off and it's now looking like we can start thinking about painting it and getting ready to install in the car. I was thinking at this point installing a new timing chain and oil pump since it's torn down to this level. Maybe cam too, humm :)

Next is the harness, we will wash it down and start going through it so it will run in the Olds. Getting closer....

Looking good.
Some nice eye candy in the background!

Thanks Monte, yes those are the ending projects that we have been working on for the last few years. The Chevelle I have had for 29 years now, and the Continental I bought for my 17 year old as a father/son project, he is 22 now. The car is looking good inside and out. Not a project car for the meek, this thing is complicated for a 54 year old beast :)

This week may be slow progress on the Olds, I am at work all week so the kid will get a few tasks to do while he has days between classes. One is going to me the harness that needs cleaned up so we can start tearing it down for modifications. Another will be pressure washing the firewall so we can start prepping for paint. And if there is time leftover he can maybe get a couple of front tires and get the wheels painted.

Nice progress. Cool to see your moving along quite well. The chevelle is sick! I dont know whats done to it but I like it. I like the 71 72 models a bit more because they have a resemblance to the 70 MC front end. But most people like 70 chevelle better. Oh wait what car are we supposed to be talking about...

Loving it, you should just move to Arkansas. We don't even have vehicle inspections here, no emissions standards at all.

That would be nice :) the wife and I are one day going to move out of this expensive part of the country, both of us are CA born and raised too said it's so much $$ to live here and taxes drag you down too.

The Chevelle has a solid cammed oval port 427 in there now, pretty mild overall but still runs deep in the 13's on radials. Good friend of mine has an original 71 Malibu with a nice 350 in there, drives like new too...

More progress, we have torn down the harness for the LQ4 swap and got it to the point of test fitting the engine/trans in the frame. We still need to do lots of things, but progress is progress. Here is our day:

Forgot to ask a question I had last night when posting our progress, must have been the beer :) The factory fuseblock I am using off of the 2005 truck pictured above has most of the pinouts that match the earlier years in the 'C2' section but does anyone know what pins on the block will power up the fuses? The fuel pump? And what one is needed for 12V constant power? I may need to just play with it and experiment when the tome came to put the harness in the car if nobody knows :)

Little more progress, we pressure washed and starting the firewall prep for primer and paint. On a side note, how much goop sealer can the factory actually put on the firewall really? It will be primed with high build so if I can get a quart of Hurst gold base by this weekend I will be shooting paint getting ready for the AC box that I will finally be able to get bought at the end of the week too. Don't ask.

I was also playing around painting the Hurst emblems, I know they are not the original colors but these are pretty shot (plastic?) so when this car get's painted we will need to obtain new ones but until then I like the red/black.
