That's strange. the guy must have not known very much about motors so he just ordered stuff and had it installed thinking he needed it when it wasnt the right stuff.
In regards to the wiring, there should be 2 purple and 1 black or red that ran to the starter....the purple should have fusible links and have one ring terminal hooking them together that does operate the ignition/cranking function.
I would thoroughly read the msd instructions for wiring it up. I would think you should be able to eliminate alot of the wiring since you are going carbed ls. Only need wiring for temp/pressure senders, alt, starter, carb if running electric choke, and whatever neededfor the coilpacks. I don't know the LS very well, but others on here should chime in as many have them carbed.
As for the front clip, to remove it as a unit there are 4 or 6 bolts at rear of inner fenders, remove inner wheel wells, rad body bushings, unplug headlights/marker and turn signals and pull wiring out of the clips. Hope this helps man.
If that monte had the factory hei there should be a white wire with a plug on it that plugged into the dizzy. Sorry i don't have a pic....been running efi for a decade now with an electronic dizzy, going off memory.thats what it looks like but also the red running there is broken, so i will have to reconnect it.
also will need the alternator wire i believe and i think thats pretty much it. is there a tach wire ? easily identifiable because I believe that I need to hook that to the MSD box.
