My 83 Monte Carlo SS carb LS build

Slow day in the office so I installed the cam , ls6 oil pump, ls2 timing chain, ls7 lifters and lifter trays, timing cover, oil pickup , windage tray and oil pan.

pretty much waiting on the heads to be finished and the remainder of the motor can go together. I have all the parts for it.

still not sure if there is a wiring issue or not with the car. since the car has no motor in it I am thinking that the grounds are all screwed up and that is why I don't get power to things...

everything wire/switch related seems to be corroded (where I live in NJ is close to the water) I still do not believe that this was a flood car ever because there is no rust underneath and the interior has no odors or shows no other signs...

so has anyone done the a/c delete box heater only from gbodyparts.... the worst instructions ever especially since u have to modify the stock parts somewhat...

So today I went back to the shop and took a few hours to cut and piece together most of the a/c delete heater box... looks like it will be ready to go in soon, just waiting on a new heater core (I decided to change it last minute)

I also used some engine degreaser on the frame in the engine bay to get rid of the as u guessed, engine grease/oil that accumulated over the years...

come to find out that the frame is painted and peeling, I tried to use a needle scaler to get it off but it wasn't coming off... did a small test spot with an air powered sanding wheel/grinder type of tool. I am guessing that I will need to do this to get paint to stick to it even if I do the POR-15
that is my next question: should I use POR-15 on the frame or some other type of paint? tips/suggestions?

I used regular Rustoleum out of the quart (semi gloss). It's cheap, forgiving, pretty tough and easy to touch up

It really depends on the prep time, and budget you wanna throw at the frame. POR15 is awesome stuff, but it's pricey and the prep work to make sure it sticks and cures properly is time consuming! The Rustoleum like Jared used is good for a quick scuff and paint and holds up well.
I literally took my whole frame, and underside of my car down as close to bare metal as possible, then prepped correctly and brushed 2 coats of POR15 (waited about 2 days between coats). It's solid as heck....but it doesn't like brake fluid!

how has it held up ?
I haven't gotten the car back together yet (engine and trans still out). I can tell you though that while putting the suspension back together and installing the motor mounts, the tools slipped a few times and it's much tougher than spray paint. I'm working in a 10x25 storage so I initially went with the Rustoleum because I had seen it spoken highly of on some other forums and because I didn't want all that overspray in the storage. To be honest, I can see some brush strokes but I'm fine with it. It's a frame, on what will be a driver. It's way, waaay better than how it was when I started. I cleaned up the frame with mineral spirits, wire brushed it, wiped it with lacquer thinner, then one coat of primer followed with two coats of paint. Here are some more pics in my build thread.....
