My Bu's "Re"Build Thread

Back in the car! Some other new additions include new Schoenfeld 1 3/4" headers. Stewart Warner aluminum water pump. Remote reservoir power steering set up to work with the procharger. Summit Racing alternator bracket and pulleys. I'm sure I'm forgetting something.

Then I turned my attention back to the body.

This was a pic right before I started back on the body.

Bought new doors and transferred everything over. Along with new felts and weatherstrip. Also installed new black door handles and door locks.

At this point I was less concerned with getting the body straight, and really wanted to see the color, that I barely did any bodywork.

Primer.

Garage full of parts!

Color!

I'm starting to improve on my painting, but it's definitely not perfect! My biggest issue this time was running out of clear. And a few cloudy patches.

These are the best pictures I've managed to get before things go ugly. This is first time in sun. The wheels and tires still dirty from laying around the garage.

At this point, I was much happier with how the car was running. However it took me all summer to get to this point so I never made it to the track. I was putting on as many miles as I could though, and that ended up costing me. One instance of not paying attention caused this.

It bent the frame and buckled the rear quarter as well.

Ahhh man that sucks!

Oh fack!!!
You come out ok? Man, that's just shitty

That's a shame, James.
You had the car really looking good, too.
What are your plans at this point...new body, or rebuild this one?

Thanks guys. No one was hurt luckily.
Jack, the plan is to rebuild. I'm just too stubborn to know when to stop, lol.

As of now the car strapped to my trailer to hopefully bend everything back, at least close enough.

Dang this thread came to a sad ending, well hopefully not the end. I just came across this thread. looks like a really nice build. I'll be watching for the rebuild progress.

On another note how was the aluminum core support holding up? It looks nice. Would you build it the same again? I'd like to build something like that for my car to clean it up a bit.

I would and did build it again lol. It's holding up fine except for where I bolted it to the frame. I should have used some type of rubber mount I'm sure. I used just a small piece of the aluminum angle to mount it and it has bent slightly. Will most likely just remake that part out of some steel and call it good.
