Mounted the tires up today. Polished the other center caps with a Mother's Powerball. I seriously love them.

I seem to have lost two of those plastic nutserts that hold the center caps, so I'm gonna have to find some. The old wheels are in great shape, I'll probably list them on Craigslist.

I noticed this while I was swapping the wheels out-

That's grease flinging out of the hub if you can't tell. The screws for the hub are tight, but it still has some wiggle to it. I think the o-rings probably fell apart. Warn makes a service kit that comes with new hardware and o-rings so I’ve got one of those ordered.

The new wheels look killer Joe.

Thanks Jared. The polishing was a lot of work but I think it was worth it.

Every time I think it's perfect, it gets better.

Really appreciate that. I still have some projects for it, but cosmetically it's pretty much there. Nothing "needs" to be done as it sits, so it's just a matter of finding the right parts for the right price.

just as "clothes make the man", those wheels make the truck. nice score on those, and the hard work you put into them show. looking great!

Thanks Darin!

I am not a chrome guy, but that is a really good looking truck

Thanks! I've tried not to put much more chrome on it than it came with from the factory.

Well after another successful junkyard trip with pagrunt and UC645 I picked up a few more items for the truck. Namely a pair of front and rear sway bars and a premium sound CD player head unit.

The front plate for the front sway bar is a little bent up, so I may try to find a better one. Its supposed to look like this-

I also have to figure out the best way to mount the rear bar. The 4wd trucks had brackets riveted to the frame for the end links to connect to, they looked like this-

My truck doesn't have those. The 2WDs and the Broncos OTOH mounted directly to the frame. Why the discrepancy, I don't know. This diagram kinda highlights the difference-

I'm leaning towards mounting the end links straight to the frame like the Broncos or 2WDs, just for simplicity's sake.

The hqad unit is gonna take some messing around because it came out of a Thunderbird and while i did get the wiring and amp, it's not very similar to the truck's wiring. Looking at the FSM, it might be easiest to find a truck that came with premium sound and get the harness from it. It was a fairly rare option in the trucks though.
