Operation Lipstick on a Pig

I've had an intermittent high speed vibration for quite some time now. While I was under the car screwing with the tank last time, I noticed some play up at the trans in the driveshaft. Today, I yanked the tailshaft housing to install a new output shaft bushing and seal. Wouldn't you know, I smacked the seal driver too hard and knocked the little spring off the inside of the seal. That was fun! I got it back in there, though. Does this look a little wore out?

I'm just gonna throw this all in one post because it covers a bunch.
The AC compressor fragged, and luckily, I caught it before too late. No pressure in the system, black oil, and 1/16" of play in the clutch assembly =burnt toast.

I ordered a new tailgate latch for the Rust-erado; played hell getting the little rust ring acting as a nut off.

Things are looking up! (You might want to buy a lottery ticket now, before your luck goes back to normal!)

So! I found the source of the mysterious black dust that was clogging my fuel filter whilst I was messing with the sending unit. I had put shrink tube on the connectors. When I pulled the sender, there was one little piece left on one connector that was all broken down and hanging on by a thread.

At least you found it and now you know. You taught me something too.
