Our 79 Monte Carlo- Pro Touring Project

Did they change up the powertrain again? The last article that I read in Car Craft, Three Pedals had done the manual transmission conversion, with a 5 speed that was behind a small block. I read the first article on this car in Car Craft several years ago. It was purchased in Ohio, and driven to California as a father/son project, I believe. Right now, Its looking alot like a typical magazine project car, where the father/son project, and the budget have been thrown out the window. Curious to see what its like when its done.

It has an L92 with an STS turbo now. And a T56. Car is a freakin' missile. It has our Corner Max system on it but was sitting too low. We are raising it, changing front springs to 850 (from 450) to prep for autocross at LS Fest. It should be pretty equivalent to the Green Machine other than less tire.

It's not a super costly build at the moment other than an STS turbo isn't cheap and the ultra Holley dash isn't cheap.

For the less-clued-in, is that a conventional coil spring, or the one on the coilovers?

The point I was trying to make, is that there have been builds done by magazines previously, that started out as a budget minded build, but they usually go off the rails in that regard, and go beyond the goals that were originally set out for them, and thereby end up being much more costly. It appears to me that the build on this car is going in that direction, and while I'm sure that there are people out there who could replicate a car like this on the cheap, for most of us, this type of build would be beyond our budgets.
As I said before though, I will be curious to see the finished product.

Ramey, there are a few of us hoping you would install a set your springs that you told other members to cut.

OMG your killing me man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
